Extended Boat Hire Period

For new members, buying a boat can be daunting. That’s why we have created an ‘Extended boat hire period.’ You can hire the use of a club boat for a whole year. It’s a great way of practicing your boat handling skills and experiencing different types of boat without the need to purchase one. Contact Peter Dewhurst (Training Officer) or John Birtles (Berth Master) for more details.

Extended boat hire costs.

Season Hire Adult £85
Season Hire Junior £55

This initiative is aimed at addressing a problem common to all sailing clubs of how to progress new/inexperienced sailors to become confident enough to join in club racing. We know that once you start racing you will become more competent and keener to be a regular sailor.
All improvers will be encouraged to communicate within the group to arrange practice sessions/form sailing partnerships and generally learn together.

These boats are a great asset to the club but are expensive to insure and maintain. Club sailing courses contribute to the running costs but the club needs the income from hire charges to make up the balance.
Bear in mind that on average it will cost approx. £250.00 per annum to run your own boat.
So please help the club to maintain its fleet of boats. Book your boat out, use and store it with care, pay the hire charge and report any gear problems. A sailing session is for as long as you wish. Just get out there and practice your boat handling.

How to hire the boats

Daily Hire: Inform the Officer of the Day on Duty or the Committee Member in charge of the activity of your intention to hire a club boat. Pay them the fee and enter the details in the boat hire register. That boat will then be yours to use throughout the day.
Extended Hire: Contact Peter Dewhurst (Training Officer) or John Birtles (Berthmaster) of the type of boat you wish to hire and the time period.
