James DewhurstWell the 50th 24 hour race is over and Burwain came in 5th in the GP14 and 26th in the Enterprise.
WellSee More done and thank you to all who took part and helped support our effort this year with special mention to:
Andy Tunnicliffe for the loan of his superb GP14. My Dad and Gary Dewhurst - delivering all the gear to Southport (and rescuing the gazebo) Arthur Aspen who stuck with it out all weekend with the team, and also all the other visitors, families and friends who came down to Southport over the weekend. Too many to name individually, your support was certainly appreciated by all and helped make this years event special once again.
Lastly to all the sailor who gave up their sleep and their weekend to experience the thrills and spills of the 24 hr race. These are:
Enterprise - Tom Partridge, Christopher Harris, Simon Ashworth, Ute Schmitgen, Ged Lamle, Jake Chippendale, Patrick Hamilton, Gary Dewhurst, Harry Wilkin, Mark Wilkin and me.
GP14 - Andy Tunnicliffe, Lee Tennant, Innes Armstrong, Jamie Partridge, Stephen Graham, Julie Townson, Tom Bennett and Ian Dobson (yes he did eventually make it.)
A great effort by all against lots of very talented and experienced opposition and while the 24hr race doesn't always provide the most interesting of sailing challenges, it is a unique event in which doing well requires lots more that just sailing well.
Importantly I hope you all enjoyed the event as much as I did and are already looking forward to next year. (9th & 10th Sep)See Less

Learning to sail was a great experience
The beginners course gives a grounding in the basics, like learning to drive again with many other factors to master. Get it right and speed across the water
