RYA sailing Courses for Adults, Youths and Juniors
RYA level 1 & 2 courses – Intensive 2 day weekend course
Course A – Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th May
This year we are offering intensive 2 day Learn to Sail courses to achieve RYA Level 1 & 2 Qualifications. Available for both members and non-members, these courses are perfect for those with little or no experience of sailing. The course are available for both Adults and Juniors so you can come as a family. Both level 1 & 2 courses are run side-by-side on the same days. Check out what each course entails below.
RYA Level 1 Course £120
The RYA Level 1: Start Sailing course at Burwain SC assumes that the student has not sailed before. The first session is normally conducted in a GP14 2 handed boat where you sail with an instructor. After this, depending on your confidence you will be able to sail by yourself one of the clubs Toppers or Laser Picos. You will learn how to rig the boat and receive an introduction to the boat’s controls. You will then take to the water to experience for the first time what it’s like to helm a sailing dinghy alone, under the close supervision of the RYA instructor(s).
By the end of the course you should have a basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge, and you will be awarded the RYA Level 1 certificate on successfully completing and understanding the modules of the RYA Level 1 syllabus on the National Sailing Scheme.
RYA Level 2 Course £120
The RYA Level 2: Basic Skills course at Burwain SC assumes that the student has previously achieved the RYA Level 1: Start Sailing certificate. This course builds on the skills learned, introduces new ones and supports you along the way to becoming an independent sailor.
By the end of the course you should be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing without an instructor in light winds. You will be awarded the RYA Level 2 certificate on successfully completing and understanding the modules of the RYA Level 2 syllabus on the National Sailing Scheme.
