trainer trophy graphic

It’s a Woods clean sweep in the Trainer Trophy for newly qualified RYA Level 1 & 2 sailors

The final results of the first Trainer Trophy are in and we congratulate Jade & Morgan Woods in the Handicap Fleet with a net score of 4 in their Topper Topaz.  In the Topper class It is a full family sweep with Kadie Wood taking 1st place in her Topper with a net score of 4 as well.

The series was the culmination of this year’s RYA Level 1 & 2 spring/summer training courses.  All trainees were encouraged to have a go a racing in the Trainer Trophy Series. In total 18 boats took part  plus crew with tremendous enthusiasm and, competitive racing. Numbers were plentiful enough to have both a topper and mixed fleet

This is a new initiative by the Club to get adult and junior sailors to experience racing and use their newly developed sailing skills.
Races were run alongside the regular club racing on Sunday  14th and 21st July. The appeal of the series for the new sailors was that Helms were racing against sailors of their own ability.

6 races held over two consecutive Sunday afternoons

To qualify helms must have completed a minimum of 4 races out of 6
